How to crop product photos without losing important details
Start with the context where the image will appear. A square works well for many grids and catalogues. A portrait offers extra space for full-height products, while a wide composition can leave breathing room for a title or button. Story formats require a deliberately vertical photograph; a wide original may need significant cropping.
Keep labels, handles, edges and key features comfortably inside the frame. If you expect a platform to overlay text or controls, leave additional safe space. For multi-product collections, aim for comparable product scale and visual margins, not identical backgrounds at the expense of readability.
What the image-resolution warning means
The preview crops your original image using a cover fit. A small original cannot gain genuine detail when exported larger. If the resolution message warns about enlargement, use a higher-resolution photograph or choose a less demanding format. Exports have the pixel dimensions shown in the selector, but upscaling does not create real sharpness.
Transparent PNG backgrounds appear white in the JPEG export. For original transparency, keep your original PNG instead. No image is sent to the website by this tool; refreshing or leaving the page clears the selected file.
